Paul Frantz

Paul Frantz is a private investor and advisor to Gabriel Investments, and is involved with several early-stage ventures. He is currently a managing partner at Ascend Partner Solutions, a business development and marketing consultancy. Previously, he was co-founder and CMO of Energy Plus, an energy marketing company that grew to over $350 million in annual revenue in 5 years and was acquired by NRG Energy in 2011. Prior to this, Paul served as managing director of marketing of Juniper Bank, a venture-backed start up, and then Barclays Bank (which purchased Juniper in 2005). At Juniper/Barclays, Paul managed all direct marketing channels, acquiring over 4MM new customers and generating over $500MM in new card balances through balance transfer programs. In addition, he led the launch of US Airways Mastercard, the largest and most successful partnership signing in the company’s history.

Paul began his career in New York, in financial services marketing at American Express and then at First USA Bank (which later became Chase). He has an undergraduate degree from Cornell University, and an MBA in marketing and finance from Columbia University.
